About YASMIN

Yasmin Mohamad was born and raised in South Florida where her love for the ocean began. Her childhood memories consist of playing outdoors with the kids in her neighborhood and the weekends spent escaping to the ocean. The moment she knew she wanted to be a teacher was in 4th grade. Her teacher that year became the inspiration to become the educator she is today. It wasn’t until college studying for her Bachelor’s in Education Degree that she would find an interest in writing children’s stories. She would come up with various storylines and plots that would make great adventures and would immediately note them down in her phone.

After unexpectedly losing her sister, she wanted to write a book to remind the kids in her family that although her sister is not here physically, her love surrounds us. Her sister loved the ocean and protecting it is a way for Yasmin to feel connected to her sister again.

Shortly after, an opportunity that was “just meant to be” presented itself to Yasmin. This opportunity not only fulfilled her dreams of writing a children’s book, but it also helped her find a way to be a voice for her favorite animals, dolphins. She believes it is crucial to protect the oceans and the beautiful animals that live in it. As a former classroom teacher, and in the education field for a decade, she has learned that children learn best when they are having fun. That is where the adventures of her trilogy began. This special project is dedicated to her dear sister. She hopes that her series, Wavy Adventures, inspires future generations to care for our oceans.
