Book One of the trilogy Wavy Adventures is an inspiring story about siblings, Jay and Isabella who move back to Shell Island after losing their mom. Jay has a difficult time adjusting to his new life until he meets a magical dolphin. He has a special connection with Shelly, the dolphin, but he doesn't know what it is until he meets Rusty (inspired by real life dolphin hero, Russ Rector) and Victoria.
Jay, Isabella and their new friends go on an adventure to get Shelly back to her magical superpod but they run into some trouble at sea with pirates! Just when Jay thinks all hope is lost, he starts to believe that he has a greater purpose on this island. Will they get Shelly home before the pirates capture her or will what they learned about their families' past hold them back?

🌊Wavy Adventures: Getting Shelley Home written by Yasmin Mohamad is a heartwarming adventurous story about two siblings, Jay and Isabella. 🏝After the sudden death of their mother, they move to Shell island with their father. There they meet a cast of interesting characters that teach them how to care for the ocean and it’s inhabitants. 🐬They embark on a magical adventure to reunite Shelly the dolphin to her Superpod. They solve mysteries and fight off pirates all while learning about conservation efforts to preserve ocean animals in the wild where they belong. Along the way they discover the connection between their mother and the ocean. Her love comforts them. 💗I love how the author took her passion for the ocean and the loss of her sister, and turned it into a beautiful inspiring story. The illustrations by Stephen Bibb help early chapter book readers get a deeper understanding of the story.

Yes! Rusty was actually based on a real-life, pirate-looking, dolphin-loving activist and advocate that spent the majority of his years protesting the captivity of dolphins and whales!
